The Azores, with their rugged volcanic origins and unique lower Northern Atlantic placement, are a destination of both beauty and adventure. The archipelago’s rugged cliff lines, lush valleys with rolling hills and dense forests, breathtaking vistas over volcanic lakes and open ocean provide endless opportunities for photographers willing to venture to these shores.

As spring transitions into summer, the Azores updates its winter pallet of green to more vibrant shades of green interspersed with pops of color, from the pinks of the azaleas to the plethora of shades the wild hydrangeas burst forth with across the various islands. Yellow and white wildflowers of all shapes and sizes dot the pastures and hills while pale green fiddleheads unfurl in the fairytale-like forest pockets.

From wildflowers to waterfalls, sea caves to lava tubes, rolling fields to towering cliffs, the Azores has much to offer the nature photographer both in grand landscapes as well as small scenes and macro subjects. Beyond that though, the Azores also has a wealth of beautiful culture that we will get to experience, from delicious local cuisine to photographing one of the world's UNESCO Heritage cities - Angra do Heroísmo.

Long daylight hours provide us plenty of time to explore these small but generously photographically endowed islands. During the course of the photo adventure, we will cover three of the nine islands - Sao Miguel, Flores, and Terceira. Transportation will be by van and plane. Our co-leader, Bruno Azera, is a native to the Azores and is fluent in both Portuguese and English. He is also an amazing photographer and will be on hand to act not only as our local guide but assist with photography instruction as well. He is very knowledgeable in drone photography which is allowed and encouraged during this photo adventure.

This photo adventure is focused on putting you in just the right spots for the weather conditions we have at any given time so there may be times when the itinerary and actual tour do not align completely. Flexibility and knowledge that Bruno and I are there to maximize your photography success are key to having the best possible experience.
